Shot@Life at UCLA
Through our UCLA campus chapter, we seek to support the United Nations Foundation Shot@Life campaign, an organization dedicated to providing necessary vaccinations for children in developing countries. Every member of Shot@Life at UCLA will become a Shot@Life Champion and part of the national network. The roles of a Champion are to advocate, fundraise, and raise awareness about the Shot@Life campaign. Half of our organization’s time will be spent on putting on large-scale events on campus. We have been working on a 5k, which will occur in early Fall 2013. We are also planning a JailBreak event during late Winter/Spring quarter. Jailbreak is a competition where teams start in a designated area and try to travel as far as possible in 36 hours without spending any money. Teams starting in England have traveled as far as Australia, Singapore, and Argentina, and raised over $20,000 collectively! These sort of large scale events are our best opportunity to fundraise and publicize our message. We need a group of dedicated champions in order to be able to pull these off. The other half will be an open forum where you can present any project ideas you may have and recruit others to help. Since the nature of fundraising and advocacy is creative and demands freedom in implementation, we want you to be semi-autonomous and have the option to run your own events your way. This will also be a space where you can fine tune the details of your project and be able to tap into other Champions' networks. Shot@Life at UCLA aims to allow your creativity and passion run free while still having the advantages of a large support group and pool of resources.
