Soka Gakkai International @ UCLA
The Soka Gakkai International of UCLA provides a dialogue space for students to learn about world peace and self-development based on Nichiren Buddhism philosophy. These informal gatherings bring people together for discussing the ways that Buddhism can be applied to the challenges of daily living. Anyone, no matter how much they already know about Buddhism, is encouraged to attend. These meetings are entirely student led and open-ended. Soka Gakkai literally means "value-creation society"- an organization devoted to helping individuals recognize the preciousness of their own life and that of others. Our goal is to learn that "happiness" is the state of experiencing profound joy that comes from never being defeated by ANY problem in life. In fact, we use life challenges as catalysts to deepen and expand our inner lives. True happiness results from our efforts to manifest our highest potential: wisdom, compassion, courage and vitality. You can find us on Facebook and learn more at www.sgi-usa.org. Wee have weekly meetings.
