Volunteers Around the World Medical Outreach at UCLA

VAW @ UCLA's Medical Outreach Program takes teams of undergraduate students to various countries primarily in South America. We provide healthcare to rural communities that would not otherwise have access to healthcare. We work with local doctors in rural communities, take vitals, perform triage, run a pharmacy and present about important public health topics like hygiene. We also spend a few days traveling the country and experiencing the culture. The program is intended to give everyone a hands-on experience treating patients and deepen their understanding of foreign cultures and medical systems.
