Bruin Ventures
Our goal within UCLA is to establish a community that inspires startup culture and spark talent to pursue innovative ventures. Our club’s greatest strength lies in our diversity. As one of the only organizations at UCLA that combines students from business, engineering, and liberal arts, we are uniquely suited to explore startups in a variety of ways. Since the organization has started, thirty analysts have gone through rigorous training to be able to assess startups both qualitatively and quantitatively. This is only the beginning, and we are excited to grow our talent pool through our fall recruitment cycle. We look to growing companies like yourself to student development through different opportunities and experience. Bruin Ventures has a few main components split up into: Startup Research, Corporate Research, Fireside, and Fellowships. Startup Research, taught by an associate at a San Francisco VC firm, delves into the operational traits that lead to a well-run startup, including the team, go to market strategy, market size and competition, and product testing. Our students create due diligence papers at the end of a two week research period, with high value to the startup itself and VC firms looking for potential companies. Excel Financial Modeling is our three-day boot camp, which teaches the basics of Microsoft Excel and gives students the ability to build financial statements and models. Corporate Research is a financial track in which students select a publically traded company and perform a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis. Their end-goal is to determine changes the companies should make in order to beat rivaling companies. Our Fireside branch consists of exclusive events for prospective members and analysts, featuring prominent VCs and startup founders sharing their knowledge to UCLA students. In Fellowships, we partner with firms and startups to offer amazing internships to our analysts and give your companies an expedited recruitment process with access to top students.
