IMHOME
IMHOME (Improving Maintaining Homeless Opportunities through Mentorship and Education) seeks to serve the homeless population of greater Los Angeles area with a social support network to assist the transition from poverty to a good standard of living. Our services include tutoring and mentoring as well as workshops and activities to build self-esteem for homeless individuals. We partner with the transitional shelters Alexandria House and People Assisting the Homeless (PATH). The Alexandria House is a very welcoming place for not only homeless women and children, but also for volunteers. There, we hold weekly tutoring sites for elementary school children as well as three cooking nights each quarter. In collaboration with PATH, we hold workshops centered on self-improvement such as resume and interview skills in order to help empower the members of the shelter. Overall, IMHOME is about collaboration and support, to be a pillar in these individuals lives as we help them strive for a better life.
