Writer's Block (WB) at UCLA believes in the power of writing to transform and inspire. The ability to read and write critically and creatively is crucial to students' success, but the trend in public education institutions has been to direct focus towards a "banking system" of memorizing and "studying for the test" while drifting away from helping students build a strong foundation in these critical skills. WB's mission is to help students empower themselves and their communities through gaining confidence in their written and verbal communication skills and by developing personally, academically, and professionally.
